Mr. Ord recently joined SNC-Lavalin, Environment (SLE) as Director, Air Quality and Climate Services responsible for SLE’s activities in this regard in western Canada. Roger delivers specialized consulting services in Carbon, Regulatory Engagement and Environmental Management, and is responsible for delivering SLE’s ANSI ISO 14065 GHG verification program. He uses his more than 25 years of experience in the environmental, regulatory, oil and gas, cement, mining and natural gas sectors to provide practical solutions. As a geophysical engineer and as a field geophysicist in the early part of his career, Roger used a wide array of ground and remote sensing techniques in an ever-expanding quest for new and better detection technologies to find new discoveries. As Roger’s career progressed, the sophistication of detection technologies has as well. Globally, nationally, provincially and at the facility level, we are under pressure to measure our emissions to determine our level of concern and possible management approaches. Detection and management of fugitive emissions has been a focus of Roger’s subsequent career, as an EHS manager for a natural gas utility and now as an air quality & climate services consultant to industry, and the tracking and staying in front of technology change has been a constant in his career. Where will fugitive detection technology take us next? Roger is a professional engineer in both Alberta and BC, holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Victoria and is an Environment Canada and Alberta Environment-recognized GHG verifier.
