Dr. Anil Mehrotra is a professor of chemical engineering and the founding Director of the Centre for Environmental Engineering Research and Education (CEERE) in the Schulich School of Engineering (SSE) at theUniversityofCalgary. He has published extensively in several research areas of commercial importance, including transport and thermophysical properties of bitumens and paraffinic heavy crude oils, kinetics of wax deposition, pipeline transportation, and soil remediation. In addition to maintaining an active research programme, he has held several administrative positions at theUniversityofCalgary, including the Interim Dean of SSE and the Interim Head, Acting Head and Associate Head of the Department of Chemical & Petroleum Engineering.
Dr. Mehrotra has received numerous prestigious prizes, scholarships, awards and recognitions for his superior teaching abilities and professional service. He is a registered professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists & Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA), a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada (FCIC), and a Fellow of Engineers Canada (FEC).
Dr. Mehrotra holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, with Gold Medal, from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS–Pilani, India, 1972), a master’s degree in environmental engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT, Bangkok, Thailand, 1975), and a doctorate in chemical engineering from theUniversityofCalgary(Calgary, Canada, 1980).
